COVID-19 Patient Update

March 16, 2020

Hello Everyone,

In light of the World Health Organization officially declaring the outbreak of COVID-19 virus a pandemic (March 11, 2020) and in particular, the vulnerability of our patients, staff members and practitioners, we are implementing a simple but proactive protocol for all upcoming appointments.

This protocol is simply to ensure we are doing everything we can to assist in the diminished spread of the virus. We’re committed to being both responsive and responsible, navigating these times with everyone’s safety in mind.

Effective immediately, we will be converting all existing patient appointments to virtual or telephone appointments, organized through our OTN (Ontario Telehealth Network). For those with the ability to connect online using their computer and email address, you will be able to connect from the comfort of your own home for your appointments with Dr. Blake Pearson and his team. If you do not have computer access, your appointment will take place via telephone. This will be effective March 16, 2020.

The current situation is putting a significant strain on our community’s healthcare resources and patient call volumes at your primary care provider’s office may be very high. To support our patients and medical colleagues, Dr. Pearson is also providing patients the opportunity to speak to him directly regarding your COVID-19 questions. Please contact our office at 519-339-9233 to set-up a short COVID-19 telephone consultation with Dr. Pearson.

We will be monitoring the situation on an ongoing basis and will keep you updated regarding any change in our processes.

We want to assure you that your appointment times and the quality of the experience will remain the same. We are simply leveraging the technology available to us in order to ensure the safety of you, our patients, as well as our medical team.

Let us all hope that the COVID-19 virus will be under control shortly. In the meantime, please continue to do the following:

wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20-30 seconds

avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands

avoid close contact with people who are sick

avoid areas with large numbers of people

cough or sneeze into your sleeve and not your hands

stay home if you are sick to avoid spreading illness to others

If you are concerned that you may have been exposed to, or are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, please contact our office. For the safety of other patients and staff, please do not walk into the office. During this time there is a risk of our ER’s becoming overwhelmed. Dr. Pearson can provide you with the information you need to seek the most appropriate care quickly. Please call: 519-339-9233.

Yours in good health,

Dr. Blake Pearson & Team
